Making a Difference
Do you know that there are over 4000 homeless people in Rhode Island according to the last census report? Many of those people live in West Warwick, in the woods or in cars. There are singles, couples, and even families who struggle to find food and lodging each day. Many of them visit the Artic Mission on a regular basis. We have been providing clothing, packaged food, small household items, diapers, gas money, etc. to over 300 Under-resourced families for over ten years. This winter, for the first time, we were able to open the Upper Room coffee house as an emergency overnight shelter.
Homeless Shelter
In cooperation with Coventry Community Action, we will open a 24/7/364 shelter and assessment program at 785 Washington Street. In keeping with our Hand-UP philosophy every guest will be required to participate in an assessment for mental health, alcohol/drug dependency, or economic/vocational challenges, and then be held accountable for following a specific plan to make forward progress. A number of local agencies have committed to an onsite presence at our facility, and several will compliment our existing life-skills training programs.
Sharing in our Vision
Our vision is: to meet the chronically homeless right where they are; to show them compassion, faith, and love; to get them the help they need; and to provide the opportunity for work and transitional housing designed to elevate them to becoming productive members of society. Every step of the way we provide the mentoring, counseling, and personalized care and attention that is essential to help them successfully overcome the many challenges that have been the root causes of their homelessness. It is a unique approach, and it works.

Promotion
Promotion of the Artic Mission May Breakfast includes:

- Flyers distributed to supporting churches and organizations around the State.
- A May Breakfast Auction Brochure with a list of Auction Items and advertisements from our sponsors.
- Newspaper coverage in the Warwick Beacon, Kent County Times and The Reminder.
- Radio coverage on WARL (Heart Rock Radio) and promotion on their web site; WARV (Life Changing Radio).
Placement in promotional materials is dependent upon the level of sponsor-ship as outlined on the center page, and on the date when the sponsorship is received.
